Welcome to RDH!

Remembering a Desert Horse seeks to shed new light on topics related to horses from the Middle East. The Arabian, Barb, Turkoman, Akhal Teke, etc. are all part of the same narrative that continues to form the current debates between many breeders and lovers of those breeds. An initiative of Hylke Hettema, it sets out to add context to the general assumptions regarding the origin, development and international role of the horses from the Middle East. Exploring the narratives based on both Western and Eastern memories throughout history will lead to a better understanding of the situation in which the concept of a desert horse came to life.
